When A-Factory, a gourmet market, approached Japan based Wonderwall Studios to build and design their new market in Aomori, the design team was excited to get started!

Not only to take on an cool new project but also because of the location. Tohoku Shinkansen, the new bullet train, at the Shin-Aomori station is a newly developed area which has brought excitement to the community.

Wonderwall created a space which incorporates open atmosphere that is characteristic of markets featuring gigantic stacks of wooden apple crates on the wall and by showing the entire production process of apple cider through glass. Apples were chosen as a graphical representation because the town of Aomori is known for their apple farms. Wonderwall used warm woods and dim lighting to make the large space feel more comfortable and less like a typical fluorescent lit grocery store.
